Clubs Day Debrief -- New
Yesterday, we went to join Club day event at the Central library. When I got there, I was quite nervous because there were many students attended there. However, student staffs at booths were very welcome, friendly and actively introduced their activities in the club to me and my friends. So, I started to feel more relaxed. Moreover, I remembered one of the techniques that we learned in class in the video, The Secrets of Networking, that we should be ourselves. As a result, I tried to be calm and went to the booths that my friend and I are interested in. Therefore, we went to a few booths such as the Movie club, the Students for Environmental Action club and the Animal Aquatic Plant Ecological Society booth (AAPES). While we were at the AAPES booth to ask about their club information, the student staff there was very nice and she explained that students who join the club will have a chance to do volunteering, meeting new people and getting close to nature such as planting and helping animals. After we had listened to her, we agreed that we are interested in animals and nature. Moreover, I also want to try a volunteer work in the field that I like. So, this will be a good opportunity for me and my friends to get new experiences in our life. Moreover, I want to have a chance to go to new places in Dunedin as well. So, I hope this will be a good opportunity for me to spend time with my friends, get close to a nature and animals in New Zealand. Therefore, my friends and I signed up to join the club yesterday. Moreover, I will try to overcome my fear of trying something new because I have a chance now to join the club that I’m interested in. In addition, I’m very glad that my friends joined the club with me together.
Furthermore, my friends and I plan to join English conversation group as well because we want to improve our English skills, especially, in speaking. So, this will be a very good opportunity for us to have more speaking practice with other people.
Glad that you were able to overcome your trepidation and interact with those at some of the club booths on the Clubs Day. Sounds to me that you have been able to make some useful contacts & now it is up to you to nurture them. Lets see where participating in AAPES activities can take you?
ReplyDeleteDavid :-)
Thank you, David. I hope that AAPES will be a first step for me to do some new activities with my friends and enjoy the beautiful nature and animals here in Dunedin.
DeleteI agree with that feel nurvous in a crowded place. If we had have a skills to start conversation smoothly, we have could interected with more people.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Keigo that starting a conversation with strangers is very challenging but I hope we will feel more comfortable and do it better in the future.
