Waldorf School Education -- New
According to the Waldorf School Education, there are many educational approaches that I’m impressed. Firstly, the school gives important to social justice in education in which students with different social level backgrounds will have the same opportunity to study the same things. As I think this is one idea that is hard to find these days in our society. Moreover, I like the goal of the school as well that they want to develop a freedom to learn for students but these students will also be studying a morality in order to become a moral, high level of social competence and creativity which will help them to grow to be both a competent and a good person for our society. In addition, the school’s main method of learning which are storytelling and experimentation is very interesting because I believe that learning by doing something is more effective than reading and memorizing it. Moreover, it is much more fun to do it. Furthermore, I also impressed that students have classes such as sculpture, pottery, organic farming and learn 2 foreign languages apart from learning academic subjects because these subjects are professional subjects which will be very useful for them in the future. However, I’m a little distressed about less attention on tests which I think has both side of positive and negative effects. So, when a test is not a main concern, it could result in some of the students may not fully focus or pay less attention on what they learn or less motivation to review of what they have studied.
In my opinion, the key to make a positive difference to an education is to let students have an opportunity to learn a lot of different areas of subjects. As a result, they may soon come up with an idea of what kind of study fields they are interested in. Moreover, I believe that the more enjoyable of the study they are, the more effective of the outcome, it will be.
I really agree with your opinion about Waldorf education. I was also impressed by how the school gives equal chances to all students
ReplyDeleteThank you, Aoi. I think it’s really good that the school offers an equal opportunity to all students because this will help to reduce inequality problems in our society.π
DeleteA thoughtful and well-balanced approach to the Waldorf School video, New. I agree with you that 'learning by doing' is effective. 'Trying something & succeeding in it, gives you confidence to do it again & even do it better."
ReplyDeleteYour point about the danger of less focus on testing is an interesting one. It may be, though, that Waldorf schools use other forms of assessment than the traditional examination that we all know so well.
David :-)
Thank you, David. I think you are right that the Waldorf school may have other forms of assessments for their students. So, they can give feedback to students at the end of the course in order to help students know and improve their abilities.π
DeleteI still don’t know which areas or subject suit me because I’ve been focusing only to get good grades in my school. therefore this method help children to find their favourite subjects, and also it contributes to grow up young professionals in many areas.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hanako. I totally understand your point that sometimes it’s quite difficult to find out which subjects that are suitable for us or what we really interested in. So, I think when students have more chances to study many different areas of subjects, this will be more helpful to them to discover what they are good at and enjoy to study.π
DeleteI think it is important to encourage students to study a variety of subjects, and also to suggest tests that focus only on the most important parts, such as unit tests.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Miyu. I agree with you that it will be beneficial for students to have a chance to study a wide variety of subjects.π
DeleteI agree with you, especially the idea the learning by doing is more effective.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Milae. I think one of the most effective way of learning is to let students have a hands on experience. Moreover, it will be much more interesting to do it as well.π
