Taking Responsibility - New

In my opinion, there are activities that I often do which can result in negative impacts to our environment without realizing their consequences. Therefore, these are examples of my daily routines that can lead to negative effects to our environment and my solutions to change my lifestyles to be more environmental friendly.

The first routine is that I often buy a take away drink without bringing my own cup.  As cold drinks always come with plastic cups.  Therefore, I haven’t realized the importance of bringing my own reused cup in order to reduce the amount of plastic cup that I use.  However, now I have learned that some small actions can lead to a huge change in the future if I do it frequently.  Moreover, it’s better to start taking some small actions rather than doing nothing.  Therefore, I will try to often bring my own cup for take away or I will have a drink at the cafe instead of ordering a take away if I have some spare time.

Another action is that sometimes I can’t eat up all food in my plate resulting in food waste.  For example, when I’m starving, I tends to order more food than I need as a result, I can’t finish them all.  Therefore, in order to solve this problem, I have to think more carefully before I order food or I should order it in an appropriate portion for me.

The last example is I often prefer to use a car because it is more convenient.        However, I started to become aware of benefits of using other methods of transportations such as a train, a bus or by walking.  For example, when I walk, I can help both reducing a carbon dioxide emission and at the same time, I also have a chance to get some exercise and enjoy a beautiful view along the way.  Therefore, this is liked kills two birds with one stone.

In conclusion, there are some usual routines that I do which can result in a medium negative impact to our environment.  Therefore, I will start doing some small changes of my habits and try to make our world more livable and sustainable.

  2. I agree that the lifestyle that we are used to can be detrimental to the environment. With Thai food culture, it is very easy to order takeaway food or drinks and that can harm the environment.

  3. Great ideas here, New. It is indeed important to avoid food waste if we can. It is a sad thing when restaurants tip uneaten food in the trash while others don't have enough to eat. David :-)
