The ideal school: My vision -- Keigo
I believe that the goal of students at school should be to improve their communication skills and life skills such as empathy, self-management, and problem-solving. These essential life skills are more important than learning other subjects such as math, biology, and English. After they graduate from school, they become members of society. The things they learn from exams are not always useful in the working world. School is the place where children can be taught life skills. Therefore, schools should provide the best environment for students to achieve this goal.
Group work and outdoor activities can be helpful for them to gain such skills, as it is quite important to have more opportunities to communicate with others. For instance, group discussions can give them a good opportunity not only to have conversations but also to focus on listening to others' opinions. Training listening skills also improves the ability to empathize.
However, there is a practical problem in group discussions: if there is a group of five people, some members may not take part in the conversation, and the discussion might ignore those few and move on. Therefore, before starting discussions, each member of the group should be given a role to make sure everyone participates actively.
communication skills and life skills is very important for future life in society, so students should start learning them in early age. I wish I could learn more practical skills in the school when I was child!

DeleteHello, Keigo, I totally agree with you that communication skills and life skills are as essential as academic subjects for students. Therefore, schools should focus on teaching these skills as well.
ReplyDeletethx
DeleteI completely agree with your vision. I believe that teamwork and outdoor activities are definitely useful for improving students' non-cognitive skills. Actually, there are schools like this in Japan, you know? But these are private schools, so I hope that such schools will also exist as public schools.
ReplyDeletethx, i do not that. i wish so...
DeleteYour essay communicates a clear and meaningful message. The focus on communication and life skills such as empathy and self-management is very relevant and insightful. I liked your point about how school should prepare students for life beyond academics — that’s a strong and practical idea. Your example of group discussions and how listening supports empathy is also very effective.
ReplyDeleteI am very honored to hear "your" opinion.
DeleteI really agree with you. I heard that especially young generation who took a class remotely because of COVID-19 have a lack of life skills such as communication skills. Your ideal must be very helpful for them!
ReplyDeletethx, That ture.
DeleteLearning in a group context can certainly assist you in obtaining interpersonal skills & being given projects to work on can enable you to develop self-management and problem-solving skills. David :-)
