Pandemics of the Past -- A Reflection -- Milae

I found it surprising that the death tolls were so high in those pandemics. It was shocking that so many people died because there were no effective treatments at the time. However, I also realised how important science and medicine are, because once scientists discovered the bacterias or viruses that caused these diseases, they eventually became treatable and preventable.

From the Covid-19 pandemic, I think one positive change is that the world has learned how to respond together to a highly contagious disease. Now we have a clearer framework and guidelines for how to react efficiently if another pandemic happens in the future.
