Pandemics of the Past -- A Reflection -- Boat
Regarding the three pandemics in historical records, I am surprised with the Spanish flu. That is, the pandemic occurred during the time when the world faced many problems, especially the political matter -- the war. Though, at that time, the knowledge of medication would have been improved and developed; however, people could not pay much attention to their health rather than protecting their families and loved ones. Moreover, personally, it seemed quite self-oriented to coin the term of outbreak 'Spanish flu' due to the fact that Spain was not at war. Spain was seen as the origin of the contagious; whilst, they were the victims as other nations.
What we have learned from the pandemics is that blaming animals as the source of diseases may be quite biased since humans, ourselves, are also involved in the outbreaks. Since we have to live on the same earth, breathe the same air, and use the same resources, we must care for one another. No matter what races, nationalities, religions, or else we differ, we are humans, and as humans, we have to protect our lands, nature, and creatures for our generation and the following ones.
The pandemics obviously bring saddened changes; on the other hand, they revolution our perspective on health issues. As the recent outbreak of COVID-19, we can see that people around the world come to the same conclusion that we have to protect ourselves, we cannot live alone, or we cannot ignore our families and friends. Hence, we learn to share, to live, and to care for others. Also, we learn how to protect ourselves from the virus. Doctors and scientists learn how to develop the advanced technology and medicines to improve our lives. We learn from the past, and we can protect our future.

Thanks, I am hoping pandemic would never happen again...
ReplyDeleteFrom this major outbreak, we truly learned how devastating and destructive it can be. But at least we can be thankful for technology and modern medicine that help us handle the current situation better.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you.We need to think about how to protect ourselves from virus!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised that Spain was not the origin of the Spanish flu, and I found it interesting to learn the reason why
ReplyDeleteHello, Boat, I totally agree with you that we have learned a lot of things from Covid-19 such as we care more about our families and other people.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. I admired you for your insights. I also think that people shouldn't blame others. Instead, we need to work together for future pandmics.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point. The COVID-19 pandemic has led many countries to develop better medical and public health systems, and people are now better equipped to protect themselves. You will learn how to protect yourself as well.
