About Me -- Miyu Tokumoto

 Hi, I’m Miyu TOKUMOTO from Japan.

I’m 21 years old and I was born in Nara.

I’m specializing in language course at university.

I’m currently staying on Green Island with a lovely family, and there’s also an adorable dog named Charlie. My main goal here is to improve my conversation skills. Even back in Japan, I often have opportunities to interact with people from other countries, so I’d like to develop my English further and broaden my perspective.


I’m a generally positive person, though I can be a bit shy at times.

I’m really looking forward to the next four months with you!

    It is cool that you have found opportunities to interact with people from other countries back in your home country. Using English as a tool for intercultural communication will indeed widen your perspectives and ensure that you will maintain your English-language proficiency.

My name is Hanako Iwatsuki. I’m from Japan.  I’m currently living in Andersons Bay with Hugh family, but I’m going to move to another house in St Kilda with Hogan family next week. Andersons Bay is a lovely place near a beach. I’m really enjoying in Dunedin so far. Initially I love animals and nature, so I have been interested in them in Dunedin. In here, the animals and scenery are completely different from Japan, so I get excited every time I discover them.  When I was a high school student, my favourite subject was Japanese because in this subject, I could read some interesting Japanese literature.  The reason I chose this course is to improve my English skills especially speaking and writing skills, and critical thinking skills.  As I said, I love animals and nature, and to record them I started to practice photography.
