3MT Competition -- Meri Obara
1) Who were the best presenters & why?
In my opinion, Katie de Roo was the best presenter because her presentation was the easiest to understand. There were several tips to understand easily such as using body language, attractive linking words(Interestingly...), and "numbering".
2) Whose ideas did you find most interesting & why?
Md Salauddin Suimum's idea was the most interesting for me. His idea was that the internet should be human rights/Goverments should all people connect to the internet as human rights. The reason why it was interesting for me is that I had never heard such an idea. And I also thought that it was a really important idea to avoid poverty around the world. If this concept was standard, it would be a blight society.
3) What are some fascinating facts that you've learned today?
In the session, I was surprised and shocked by a fact that 6.2 millions people connot still access to the internet. And I was also interested in a fact of New Zealnd which many people don't complain the Bank's Regulations to Banks. This is because, I had thought that New Zealand was speak-up country.
4) What are some words that you've heard today that you'd like to remember?
The cradle will rock (I guess it's came from Van Halen "And the cradle will rock...") was the fascinating sentence for me. Because it is changed meaning by the "Contexts". Cradle means a small bed for a baby and Rock meas to move backwards and forwards or from side to side in a regular way.
5) How will you improve your ability to communicate in spoken English in an academic context as a result of attending today's event?
I will experience presentations many time to practice a public speaking and I would like to get to used to speaking in front of many audiences. Just practices.
I agree with you! I impressed Md Salauddin Suimum's idea. It is very crucial, but many people do not think that it should be a human right.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I’m surprised that you could catch many sentences like ‘The cradl will rock’!
Hello, Meri, I agree with you that when I have to do a presentation, it is very challenging. However, I hope that more we practice, the more comfortable we will feel in the future.😊
ReplyDeleteI feel you. I was very surprised as well that a lot of people still cannot access to the internet!
