3MT Competition - New

 3MT Competition - New

Our class went to attend the 3 Minute Thesis Competition on 20th of July, 2025.  I think it was a really good opportunity to experience student’s presentations even though it was very challenging for me to understand their speech.

In my opinion, Mr. Md Salauddin Saimunthe who was the fourth speaker had the most interesting ideas for me because he suggested that “The right to connect an internet should be human rights”.  Therefore, I personally agree with him because I think internet is essential for people nowadays as it gives more opportunities for us to have a better quality of life.  For example, children can use an internet to do self-study via online websites to improve their skills and knowledge.  In addition, people from remote areas can access to health cares in case of emergency such as they can get initial doctor supports before they reach the hospital which can be far away.  Moreover, it also makes our lives more convenient such as easily keeping in touch with friends and a family and have an online shopping.

In terms of the most effective communicator, from my point of view, Ms. Kati De Roux, the second speaker, was the best presenter because even though she presented through Zoom application but she delivered her speech really well.  Moreover, she explained her research in an easier language.  In addition, the picture of a painting that she chose to use in her slide, she chose it really well to link with the topic of her thesis even though I couldn’t understand all of her speech.

I think the challenges that I have learned from this session was in order to have a higher chance of understanding an English speech, I will have to study more vocabulary and collocations.  Therefore, I will have a wider range of vocabulary and it will increase my listening, speaking, writing and reading’s abilities.  Moreover, I will have to practice speaking more often so that I will still remember those words that I’ve learned even though, this is very challenging for me because I tend to get nervous easily.
